The MCE Challenge
MCE, the motor cycle insurance company, wished to raise the profile of its competitive insurance rates to UK consumers. In addition, the company sought to create a strong brand that would be readily identifiable to a diverse range of motor cyclists in a crowded and increasingly competitive marketplace.
The Dupree Difference
Dupree used our creative flair and established understanding of consumer profiles to create a marketing character that would resonate with consumers. The character, a motorcyclist named ‘Big Ed’, worked in association with a new strapline, ‘Smiles Better Quotes’, to imaginatively promote the insurance benefits that MCE has to offer. In addition, Dupree highlighted the shortcomings of MCE’s existing website and used its proven technical expertise to improve its design and functionality.

Dupree implemented a successful through-the-line campaign that effectively reached its target audience, from trade through to consumer. The new website created a more professional feel and enhanced the image of MCE in a crowded and competitive marketplace. The ‘Big Ed’ character was a huge success and continues to effectively deliver the MCE message. It is now a household name in motor cycling circles. When our brand development proposal was presented to the MCE sales team, the company achieved record figures the very next day! This was purely down to their buy-in and enthusiasm of the campaign. Then, in the first three months, sales increased by 25%. MCE has also won two Gold Insurance Industry Awards for Marketing Campaign of the Year 2009.
