Dupree provide a solution to managing the Mortons' web presence of several specialist magazines.

This can be a challenge for many niche publishers. Some articles are relevant to more than one title in a market. And each magazine has its own distinct personality and design requirements.

Mortons Media Group, Lincolnshire based publisher of cars, motorcycling and outdoor titles, recently updated their 24 magazine websites with a single content management system from Dupree Creative, one of the show partners for the Specialist Media Show. Three corporate sites will go live shortly.

Dupree designed and build the websites working closely with the Mortons in-house web team.

The CMS not only caters for the usual addition and manipulation of re-purposed content, but also the generation of additional magazine websites. Editors can add or subtract ‘managers’ including news, blogs, forums, newsletters and reader galleries to name but a few, depending upon the requirements of each title.

The templates automatically adapt to the varying content of pages on each site so that the layout retains a well-considered look and feel. Individual sites can be given a tailored appearance to suit the magazine brands.

Because all the sites operate from one CMS, Editors and other staff can share articles across titles, while ‘groups’ can be assigned such as ‘editors’, ‘sub-editors’, ‘designers’ etc with different privileges for either restricted access or restricted permissions dependent upon their responsibilities.

Kathryn Pinder, Finance Director at Mortons Media Group said ‘We wanted a web presence that offered two distinctly different gateways; the corporate area for agencies placing non-core advertising, and the magazines sites purely for consumer interaction. The bespoke solution provided by the Dupree team was far more economical than we had expected, while it cuts no corners on functionality’.

Prior to the web project, Dupree managed the creation of a new corporate identity for the Mortons Group which included the development of straplines that differentiate each company.
